Terpsichore Mosaic

The Roman Mosaic Fragment of Terpishore (Muse of Dance) was purchased with the Newell Bequest Fund. Created by Unknown artist circa 2nd-3rd CE, from Gerasa in Trans Jordan. The mosaic depicts the muse Terpishore with a garland of leaves and fruits, with a small bird perched to the right. The painting traversed several continents before arriving at Wheaton.
