Mrs. Farnsworth moved from her residence in New York City to 149 E Side Drive, Concord, NH. This location is home to a "Continuing Care Retirement Community" called Havenwood Heritage Heights. She lived here from 1998 through 2004, until she was 90 years old. Madeline was living here when she decided to donate the Colonial Painting of St. James to Wheaton College's Permanent Collection. 

The fact that she kept this particular painting out of her entire collection for so long, and took it with her even to her retirement living home is indicative that she had a particular attraction to this piece. 

At age 90, she moved to a second address in Concord at 33 Christian Avenue apartment No. 142 until her death on January 1, 2006 at the age of 92.
