Gari Melchers

Melchers created the painting Audrey, the Shepherd Lass circa 1886 in either Holland or France. My research indicates that the painting was most likely created in Holland given the scene depicted and that Melchers created an similar painting with a wind mill, entitled In den Dunen. Further research uncovered that Melchers "joined American expatriate, George Hitchcock (1850-1913) at Egmond-aan-Zee, Holland" in 1884, additionally The Sermon (Melchers' landmark painting) was begun in Egmond in 1886, the same year that Audrey was painted.
