The Dewing Greek Numismatic Foundation

Arthur Stone Dewing had a great love for antiquities. He was a constant student of philosophy and history of classical antiquity and he wanted to make the knowledge and contribution of numismatics available to the public. Dewing bought one of his first coins in 1929 and he continued to by coins for the next forty years, amounting to over 3,000 coins and over 50 vases. This collection then found a home at the Dewing Greek Numismatic Foundation in 1965. By permission of the director of the Dewing Greek Numismatic Foundation, some of Arthur Stone Dewing's coins and vases were put on display at the Fogg Art Museum in 1971, after Dewing's death as a memorial.
