Displayed in Wallace Library

In 1954 the portrait was displayed above the stairs in the Library[1]. Marion Lewis Lothrop wrote to inquire about where the portrait was displayed to the Executive Secretary while she was traveling. The Executive Secretary Margaret Clayton said she was very pleased with the placement of the portrait. She described it as hanging “In a very good location over the staircase in the library.”

The painting remained in that location, until it was moved into the Archives and eventually damaged by a guest[2]. The portrait was eventually moved into the Permanent Collection maybe to allow more protection and interaction with students.
